Senator Hezena Lemaletian Granted Court Orders Against Harassment by Ex-Boyfriend

Kenya’s political scene has recently witnessed a dramatic turn of events as Nominated Senator Hezena Lemaletian secured temporary court orders against her estranged boyfriend, Musa Hussein Lenyumpa.

Senator Hezena Lemaletian Granted Court Orders Against Harassment by Ex-Boyfriend

The Senator moved to court after accusing Musa of persistent harassment, defamation, and unwanted contact  even after she had rejected his marriage proposal and refunded a KSh 100,000 dowry he had given.

According to court documents, Senator Lemaletian alleged that Musa continued to publicly claim she was his wife despite her firm rejection and the fact that no marriage had ever taken place. She described his actions as a deliberate attempt to tarnish her reputation and cause emotional distress.

In her petition, the Senator detailed repeated incidents of harassment, including verbal threats and defamatory remarks, which she said endangered her peace and well-being.

In a ruling delivered by Magistrate Festus Terer, the court issued temporary restraining orders against Musa. The orders prohibit him from:

  • Assaulting, threatening, or harassing Senator Lemaletian.

  • Contacting her in any way  directly or indirectly.

  • Interfering with her peace, security, and overall well-being.

These orders will remain in effect pending the full hearing of the case.

This case shines a light on gender-based harassment and the lengths to which public figures sometimes must go to protect their safety and reputation. It also underscores the role of the courts in offering immediate relief to victims of harassment, even when the dispute stems from personal relationships.

As the matter progresses, all eyes will be on the outcome of the full hearing, which will determine whether these temporary orders become permanent.
