Kenya's Ticking Time Bomb: Allegations of Political Militia Plot Ahead of 2027 Elections
In a startling exposé that has sent shockwaves through Kenya's political landscape, whistleblower and political analyst Nelson Amenya has alleged the existence of a covert, highly organized political network plotting ethnic conflict and arming militias ahead of the 2027 general elections. These claims, if proven true, would amount to an unprecedented threat to the country’s democratic fabric, social stability, and national security. According to Amenya, a cadre of powerful politicians and their allies are allegedly orchestrating plans to retain power through extrajudicial means. These include ethnic suppression, voter intimidation, and militia deployment in volatile regions. The alleged aim: ensure that President William Ruto secures re-election “by any means necessary.”

The Alleged Network
Amenya named several high-ranking individuals he claims are central to this operation.
According to Amenya, these 10 individuals allegedly began mobilizing in June 2024, following increased opposition pressure and internal dissatisfaction with the government’s performance.
GEMA Under Threat?
The Kikuyu, Embu, Meru, and Akamba (GEMA) communities reportedly became targets after the inclusion of the Kamba community in the cultural bloc in November 2024. Amenya claims the group saw this as a potential political threat, leading to plans of targeted voter suppression and regional destabilization.
Of particular concern is the alleged September 27, 2024, meeting where over fifty Kalenjin warrior leaders were reportedly oathed to defend their community. This event, said to be led by former MP Moroto and two elders, allegedly included a call to arms and a communal vow to resist Kikuyu influence in the coming elections.
Government's Deafening Silence
Despite multiple posts by Amenya over the past year documenting the rise of politically-linked gangs, inciting speeches, and police complicity, the government has yet to issue a formal response. This silence, he warns, is not neutral.
“In politics, silence is often consent,” Amenya said in his most recent post. Following one of his exposés, Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen admitted that weapons were being imported by politicians, suggesting some level of truth in the whistleblower’s assertions.
Calls for Accountability
Amenya emphasized that this is not about partisan politics. His work is based on verified, anonymous sources and cross-referenced intelligence, he says. In the past, he has reportedly influenced the cancellation of state-linked deals such as the Adani energy contracts.
The accusations are not to be taken lightly. Kenyan citizens have witnessed increased ethnic tension, youth radicalization, and state-sanctioned force in recent months. Most notably, MP William Kamket was caught on video inciting violence, while other leaders like Oscar Sudi have made troubling remarks about ensuring electoral victory by any means.
A Call for Action
Amenya’s statement ends with a firm warning to Kenyans and the international community: “We must reject any attempt to weaponize ethnicity or youth militias for political gain.”
He further warns that if the alleged group is not dismantled and held accountable, Kenya may be heading toward large-scale ethnic conflict not seen since the post-election violence of 2007-2008.
