Etihad to Triple Nairobi Flights by December 2025
In a significant operational change, Etihad Airways will increase its Nairobi to Abu Dhabi route from four flights a week to an impressive 14 by December 15, 2025. The increase will start with eight flights a week in October and then double to two daily flights by mid-December.

Etihad’s Vice President, Javier Alija, said, “To go from launch to double daily frequency in just one year is unprecedented. It’s a testament to the strength and diversity of the Kenyan market.”
This expansion will add over 1,600 seats each week, raising total weekly capacity to more than 2,200 seats. According to VisaVerge, Etihad already began nonstop flights to Nairobi twice a day in July 2025. This move improved cargo and passenger connectivity while keeping round-trip fares competitive.
This increase shows strong travel demand and positions Nairobi as a key link connecting East Africa through Etihad’s Abu Dhabi hub to cities like London, Paris, and Mumbai. This change is part of a broader push into Africa, with Etihad planning to operate nearly 50 flights to the continent by the end of 2025, including new and improved routes.
Impact Highlights:
- Better connectivity: Two daily flights provide improved schedules, smoother onwards connections, and options for business and leisure travellers.
- Cargo boost: More capacity allows for the efficient movement of exports, including fresh produce.
- Economic confidence: This demonstrates the airline's trust in Kenya’s travel market and its middle-class demand.
