The day will begin with the official oath-taking of Consolata Nabwire Wakwabubi, recently gazetted as the United Democratic Alliance’s (UDA) replacement for Gloria Orwoba.

In a notice published by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) on August 14, 2025, Orwoba was removed from the position, and Nabwire who is from Bungoma County was named successor. She assumes the seat following Orwoba’s ejection by UDA's disciplinary committee, which accused Orwoba of damaging the party’s image and willfully ignoring disciplinary summonses.

Immediately following the swearing-in, the Senate will turn its attention to the impeachment charges leveled against Kericho Governor Dr. Erick Kipkoech Mutai. The Kericho County Assembly formally voted to remove Mutai from office on August 15, 2025, in a unanimous motion accusing him of serious misconduct, including misuse of public and donor funds, and authorizing payments to contractors for incomplete work most notably a controversial KSh 85 million transaction .

The Senate Speaker Amason Kingi issued a Gazette notice confirming the special sitting, outlining both the swearing-in and impeachment hearing as main agenda items.
